We have a special event here in Music City the weekend of October 1st-4th and you won’t want to miss it. Dare to Be Square Nashville Edition is a weekend of dancing, calling, jamming, workshops and more celebrating the modern revival movement of traditional square dance and Old-Time music!
On Friday night, October 2nd, instead of our regular Friday night contra dance we’re hoping to send our lively dance crowd over to the Old School Farm to dance some contras, squares, and maybe a two-step or two with our own Turnip the Beet playing and Mister T-Claw calling along with national calling experts Will Mentor and Nancy Mamlin.
Farmer Rachel Stubbs will be giving a lesson covering contra and square basics at 7:30 pm. The first half of the night will be contras and the second squares, and open calling/couple dancing will go until midnight or someone kicks everyone out! The Old School Cafe/Farm Bar will be open serving food and drink.
Proceeds from the weekend benefit the Old School Farm, a non-profit small sustainable farm employing adults with intellectual disabilities.
Check out the Dare to Be Square Weekend Details and Registration here! You can sign up for the full weekend or just come out to the Friday night at The Old School and/or Saturday night, 10/3 at the Nashville Palace.
